Upon arrival at the city, we will visit Phnom Banan and Phnom Sampeou. Phnom Banan is on top of a mountain, XI century. It consists of five towers forming a quincunx reminiscent of Angkor Wat. This top is a quiet area with fantastic views. There is a small cave near Ang But Meas. We also found an ancient pagoda, more than 150 years, still active at the base of the mountain.
Phnom Sampeou is a mountain topped by Wat Sampeou and a group of caves or grottoes used as Killing Caves during the Khmer Rouge genocide. Still contain skeletal remains of their victims. The pagoda is not exceptional but the view is spectacular. There is the well-known folk legend Rumsay Neang Sok, the girl let her hair down. Many of the names are associated with mythological legends, including Phnom Sampeou (boat mountain). We will have lunch in a quiet terrace once again tasting the local cuisine Cambodian. In the afternoon, if you dare, enjoy a ride on the famous Bamboo train to the town of Odam Bang. The bamboo train is unique and a very creative way of transport used by locals to transport goods, persons, animals, bikes ... When you find another train in the opposite direction, one of them is removed and taken out of the way, in one or two minutes, letting the other one continue the journey. Visit the interesting NGO Phare Ponleu Selpak, that offer Cambodian children from poor families the opportunity to access to culture on a path of art, including music, drawing, painting, theater, dance and circus.
