Day 1: ARRIVAL – VIENTIANE

Welcome to Vientiane! Upon arrival to the Airport and after the customs and immigration formalities, you’ll meet our Travex local guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own arrangement.

 

     
Day 2: VIENTIANE – CITY TOUR & BUDDA PARK (B/-/-)

Today you will enjoy a city tour of Vientiane, the quietest Asian capital. Visiting the historical sites of Wat Sisaket and Hor Pha Keo, this contains a collection of the finest Lao art. We then Continue on to Patouxai, the Victory Monument, with panoramic views of the town. Finally we’ll end up at That Luang, the holiest site in Laos and its national symbol. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, we travel to Xieng Khouan Buddha Park. Here a renegade monk formed his own sect and began to carve magnificent, eerie statues out of concrete, based on Hindu, Buddhist and Brahman iconography. He began in 1958 and continued on until the Communist took over Laos in 1975; he then left across the border to Nong Khai, Thailand and sculpted a new park. This is a surreal “Buddhisneyland” full of interesting photographic opportunities!

 

     
Day 3: VIENTIANE – LUANG PRABANG – PHOUSI SUNSET & TRADITIONAL BACI (B/-/-)

After breakfast at the hotel we will provide transfer to the Airport for your flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival there, you’ll meet our guide and be transfer to your hotel. Before dusk, we climb the 328 steps up Phousi Hill for panoramic sunset views. Descend the mountain and enjoy dinner in nearby to take in more of the ambiance of the city. Then we will follow the traditional Baci Ceremony Laotian. ‘Baci’ that remains a very important ceremony until today the ceremony is to give the welcome or farewell, bring good luck and scare away evil spirits it’s essential and a major event in the life of local people.

 

     
Day 4: LUANG PRABANG – CITY TOUR (B/-/-)

After breakfast, enjoy a tour around the atmospheric town of Luang Prabang. Visit Wat Aham, Wat Visoun, the oldest living temple in Luang Prabang, Wat Visounn that dates back to 1513 and contain a collection of antique wooden Buddha. Visit Wat Xieng Thong, the finest example of Luang Prabang architecture, as well as the gilded carved façade of Wat Mai. Also visit the National Museum, the former Royal Palace, where relics from Laos’ royalist past are kept. When then make a journey back down the southern slope to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center, a private museum displaying interesting information on the tribal peoples of Northern Laos.

 

     
Day 5: LUANG PRABANG – ALMS GIVING AND EXCURSION TO PAK OU BUDDHA CAVES (B/-/-)

Today will be get an early start (6:00am or so) and go to watch or participate in the traditional Lao rite of Almsgiving to the monks. In the city, some 300+ monks walk silently collecting alms. This is an amazing sight and your guide will be on hand to demonstrate and explain you this important ritual. Afterwards, we make a visit the Morning Market where we can see an array of meats, vegetables and spices the locals use in their cooking. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Then we take the cruise up through the Mekong River to the mouth of the Ou River. Our next stop will be the sacred Pak Ou Buddha Caves, since long time considered a holy spot for the Lao people. Locals make pilgrimages to this site to place Buddha images inside the caves to worship them. From here we continue stop to visit Ban Xang Khong, where the weaving of Lao textiles still takes place on ancient wooden looms. Enjoy lunch before your return back to the cruise. The rest of your day is at your own leisure.

 

     
Day 6: LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALL (B/-/-)

After breakfast at your hotel, travel to the south of town to the Kuang Si Waterfall. Stop along the way to visit the Living Crafts Centre, a place where you can meet weavers and learn about textiles, while helping keep these traditions to be kept alive. At the falls, crystal water cascades into idyllic turquoise pools. Bring a bathing suit along if you would like to swim! Also take time to visit the nearby Sunbear Refuge to learn more about the poaching of these endangered creatures before returning back to Luang Prabang and the rest of the is free on your own.

 

     
Day 7: LUANG PRABANG – PAKSE – TAD FANE WATERFALL TREK (B/-/-)

After an early breakfast at the hotel and check out afterwards you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Pakse. On arrival we’ll transfer you to Tad Fane Resort. Check in to your hotel and start enjoying a day–trek in this lovely area. In the morning, make an easy hike on the Bolaven Plateau. This hike goes through a local village, coffee plantations, and over a hanging bridge and on to the plains. Huge boulders, epiphytes and wild orchids abound. Large pine trees grow here, giving it a wholly different character of landscape. Then you’ll be transfer back to Pakse for overnight.

 

     
Day 8: PAKSE – WAT PHOU TEMPLE & WALKING TOURS ON 4000 ISLANDS (B/-/-)

After breakfast at the hotel we travel to the 4000 Islands area. On route, we’ll visit the famous Khmer Temple complex of Wat Phou. This represents the easternmost border of the Khmer empire. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to 4000 Islands by van and cross the Mekong River by local ferry. After check in the hotel, you will enjoy an hour of walking tour to explore the island as well as to visit some Buddhist Temples. Overnight in KhongIsland.

 

     
Day 9: 4000 ISLAND – KHONE PHAPENG – LI PHI WATERFALL & DOLPHIN (B/-/-)

Today after breakfast we’ll enjoy a trip by boat to the largest waterfalls in Asia! Khone Phapeng and the Li Phi Falls were the major obstacles which frustrated the attempts of the French in their efforts to open the Mekong River to navigation. Here also live some 50–100 Irrawaddy (freshwater) dolphins. And if you’re lucky, you’ll have the chance to see them! See the small gauge railway and Colonial Bridge built by the French to circumnavigate the falls. Then return to the island to spend the afternoon at your leisure or exploring the island on your own.

 

     
Day 10: 4000 ISLAND – PAKSE – DEPARTURE (B/-/-)

After breakfast, well take a ferry to the mainland and transfer to Pakse for your return flight.
