Explorations : Amphawa Rural Life-2 Days / 1 Night

     
Day 1: BANGKOK - AMPHAWA - NIGHT CRUISE

Venture to the outskirts of Bangkok where a picture perfect escape in traditional Thai style awaits. The private shuttle carries to Amphawa, located in Samut Songkhram province about an hour or so outside of Bangkok. A quick pit-stop at Mahachai market, one of the largest seafood markets in Thailand breaking up the drive between destinations. Enjoy lunch on the riverside of the Mae Klong, where locals take pride in their esteemed seafood delicacies. Continue to Baan Amphawa, where this idyllic riverside destination combines Thai heritage and tradition with contemporary Thai luxury. Each unit is nested in a tropical garden creating the perfect hideaway. In the afternoon, free at your own leisure and enjoy this peaceful resort, and its magnificently relaxing spa facilities. As the sun goes down take in a wonderful excursion into local Thai gastronomy. After dusk, embark on an exciting night river run along the canals that pass through the village of Amphawa (very busy during the weekends) where fishermen test the waters from their smaller fishing boats and ample fireflies light the approaching vegetation surrounding the banks of the Mae Klong. Return to peaceful surroundings enjoying the ‘Ruen Thai’ styled accommodation overnight at Baan Amphawa.

Day 2: AMPHAWA - SURROUNDING

After breakfast, just a few minutes away lies the most famous floating market, Damnoen Saduak. Board a small boat while being paddled down the as river local merchants float by. Fresh vegetables and an array of snacks for the most local selection from the floating market. Continue to the Cathedral of St. Mary (est.1896). Standing along the river its European architecture is in stark contrast to the local area. Next on to Wat Bang Kung, located in Bang Kung Navy Camp, which beckons back to armies of the past age of Ayutthaya. Continue finally to the modest center of Siamese cats. Feature siamese cats called Wichienmas which formerly held a royal privilege that gave no right to raise or breed outside the Royal Palace. After lunch, return for check-out and return to Bangkok.
