Vimanmek Palace (heavenly palace) was built in the 1800's during the
reign of King Rama the 5th, as his private place of residence. Constructed entirely out of
teak wood, the palace generates an atmosphere of peace and serenity, a sensation similiar
to that you find in a spiritual place. The palace is an impressive and impeccable work of
19th Century Thai architecture. Vimanmek Palace contains large rooms adorned by Thai
antique furniture and objects of art characteristic of the King Rama V era. The courtyards
boast several colorful botanic gardens, ponds and small lakes, all of which make the
palace grounds more beautiful and breath-taking to visit.
